i just ordered my L88 corvette style hood scoop and am plannin on putting it on my truck. way cheaper than buyin a whole hood. anyways its a fiberglass scoop and i have a stell hood. how do you attach this without it cracking and wat are some good ways of attaching it. also my hood has a slight upside down "V" shape to it down the centre line. how should i fill the gap in between the scoop and the hood.
any suggestions would be awesome
thanks logan

I didn`t have one that big, but I had one put on my S10 and what they did was heat it up in the oven to make it "bendable" but not melt it and when they took it out, they put it on a board and put a slight bend in it to fit the hood perfect.
Worked pretty dang nice.

I`ve herd of guys using a heat gun to heat it as well. That oven trick sounds pretty neat though. As far as actually attaching it to the hood most use the 3M tape that is used for body molding. If this is going to be a working hood scoop then you would want to glass it in.

ya i think im gonna have to try the heat gun idea to make it a bit closer to the shape of my hood. i am gonna trace out the outside of the scoop on the hood and cut an inch in from my line then scuff both surfaces (hood and scoop). i`ve chosen to use an epoxy type adhesive for attaching fiberglass to metal and then also pull it down more with some nice polished aluminum or chrome carriage bolts or rivets then fiberglass and bondo the edges smooth to my hood and then paint.
how does this sound to you all?

ya the reason i was thinking the rivets or bolts was that everyone around here and at my shop said that since fiberglass and steel expand differently from heat it will cause the fiberglass and bondo to crack but i wasnt to sure about that

The ones that i have seen done were secured with pop rivets first then glassed. Sounds like it will be good.
