OK... 3 questions... for a 03 5.3 silvy
1. can I use royal purple synchromax in my transfer case? I am going to give them a call tomorrow as well.
Got this off of the RP website: "Synchromax is recommended for manual transmissions that specify an automatic transmission fluid. It’s also ideal for 4×4 transfer cases and motorcycle gear boxes. Synchromax is fully compatible with all types of friction materials. It provides excellent corrosion and oxidation protection without affecting the soft metals commonly found in manual transmission synchronizers."
2. Can I use RP 75w/90 in my front diff? I read something about the RTV seal eventually being deteriorated because it`s a synthetic? Thanks.
3. If I remember correctly I think RP puts the additive in that is needed for the rear end?
Thanks again guys... I know it is a lot!!! Need to do some catching up.

Just looked these up in my Haynes manual...
- I am pretty sure I have the selectable 4wd front diff (I own a Z71) which says it takes 80w/90 with gl-5 gear oil... will RP suffice here?
- I am also pretty sure about the auto transfer case taking the gm auto trak 2 transfer case fluid... not sure if the RP synchromax stuff will suffice
- FINALLY... I AM ALSO PRETTY SURE that the synertec or whatever RP calls it for there gear oil means that additive is in there.

Use the autotrac II fluid from GM only! I had the same question for a GM mech friend of mine and he said GM is the only one that carries this fluid....very special fluid for a very special transfer case.
Kind of like the hubs of a Polaris AWD ATV.....you have to use their fluid to make it work!

Yeah when I worked at a shop we even had to get that special blue fluid from the dealer themselves so i`d stick with that for the transfer case. The front I`ve heard stuff before about the synthetic oil deteriorating the gaskets or whatever but not sure if it`s true or not. And the rear you could always throw some of the additive in with it. Better safe than sorry.
