I have a 2000 Chevy 2500 with a 6.0L Vortec and I currently have a CAI, Flowmaster 40`s true duals, and a diablo sport predator, is there really any other additions I could make to improve my H.P. or Torque that doesn`t go into high performance camshafts ect ect?
I know headers, and I am thinking about putting them on, but i`ve heard they are a pain in the butt to put on in these newer trucks and my dad was saying on his old muscle cars they will leak quite often and you have to take them off and put them back on (I believe you have to replace the gaskets) to fix the leak, and I don`t want to have to deal with that, so is there any way to avoid the frequent leaks?
Any help is appriceated

my longtubes don`t leak at all, the install wasn`t bad at all either. The stock gaskets actually work really well on these trucks, just get a new set from the dealership when you do the install. $32 bucks for both sides.

Ok, so on the newer vehicles i shouldnt have to much of a problem as far as leaking goes.. Did you notice much of a difference in sound/performance?

The install for the headers isn`t too bad. I did it for the first time last weekend and it was by myself. I didn`t re use the stock gaskets though, I used the lpp gaskets that came with the headers. You will notice a gain in power but the big thing I noticed was sound. I have a magnaflow cat back exhaust and the headers and ory really woke it up. It sounds awesome now.

I`m hoping so. Hopefully I notice a nice gain in hp and gas mileage. I`m going to go with a s&b intake kit soon too along with either a nelson or wheatley tune. Should be set after that. I`m already addicted to getting more horsepower though lol

Yea gears are a huge help probably one of best ways to go specialy on the bigger trucks. Turning those big ass tires deffinently takes more work than the stock plus its preaty damn cool smoken off some 40s lol like they are nothin.

You do the cam and lifters and springs all together right? Do most people do a cam and heads at the same time? I remember hearing that before. But after an intake kit, headers and exhaust, and a tune what do you do next for performance?

It depends on how much power you wanna make whether or not you get bigger heads. The cam I`ll be running is small compared to some others, but its great for a daily driver, nice lope, don`t have to change verter`s, and gains 40-60 rwhp. This just involves cam, springs, and pushrods, the stock rockers and lifters work just fine.

Oh that sounds perfect man. im not looking for any crazy gains to make a 500 hp engine or anything ya know i just want a little more power. but to do just a cam and the rods and all that would be nice. what cam are you looking at and whats the general price for em, ive never done one yet so i have no idea how tough of a job it is.
